Expense Tracking & Financial Visibility Enhancement

‍A client faced challenges in maintaining proper expense tracking, with their accounting data scattered between QuickBooks and Excel sheets. The process was prone to human error and led to miscalculations in the company's contractor payables. Additionally, lack of proper accounting procedures posed a risk of leakages and errors elsewhere. I undertook the project to remap their accounting system. I started with cleaning and unifying their accounting data into one cohesive structure in QuickBooks. This continued into a revision of the chart of accounts and establishment of monthly procedures to ensure data integrity. The final product provided an accurate performance review for the management through the presentation of the three financial statements: Profit and Loss (P&L), Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow.

I conducted a thorough analysis of their historical financial data, identified patterns, and developed an understanding of the key drivers in their expenses. I collaborated with the client to develop a comprehensive budgeting model tailored to their specific needs including project timelines, resource allocation, and anticipated revenue streams. The model allowed the client to simulate various scenarios and assess the financial impact of different business decisions. As a result of our budgeting project, the company was able to identify cost savings, streamline operations, and foster a transparent decision-making culture, positioning them for sustained growth in a competitive market.

A client wanted greater insights into their costs of goods sold in order to make more strategic decisions on what plants they should grow, which they should purchase, and if they should lean into their retail or wholesale business. I collaborated with them to built a financial model that gave them accurate pricing based on their historic data. They were able to decide which prices to raise/lower to stay profitable and competitive and were able to make data driven decision on the direction of their business.
